A quick look at our latest end-of-season projections (focusing on our “In The Conversation” metric).
Our list of teams with >10% of being in the playoff conversation at the end of the regular season is down to 12 – one shorter than last week. As long as the top teams keep winning there will be less and less room for others. This week UofH drops out, and we traded UNC for Virginia Tech.
At the top Clemson, Michigan and Alabama are pushing well above 80%. Washington sees a big jump, Ohio State drops a bit with Michigan’s ascendance, and Louisville holds steady just north of 60%.
That top tier is one fewer this week, with Tennessee’s ITC chances cut in half following their loss to A&M. The Vols are joined in that second tier by the Aggies, VaTech (debuting at ~20%), Baylor, WVU and Nebraska. All those teams control their own destiny, it’s just that their playoff destines are rather unlikely.
